A Celebration of Culture and Identity: The GEM Cultural Day 2025

The GEM International School came alive with colour, pride, and cultural energy as students, staff, and parents gathered to celebrate the school’s annual Cultural Day in 2025. From the vibrant traditional attire to the disciplined march past, the day was a powerful reminder of the rich heritage that shapes every GEM student.

Students from both the Primary and Secondary School participated in the event, dressed in a stunning array of traditional outfits representing diverse Nigerian ethnic groups — from beautifully adorned Yoruba aso-oke and gele, to the bold and colourful Igbo ceremonial wear. The atmosphere was electric as each group took to the field with confidence and pride.

One of the highlights of the day was the march past, where students dressed in matching yellow sports uniforms paraded with remarkable discipline and coordination, drawing applause from the crowd of parents and guests gathered on the grounds.

The event also featured a competitive element, with trophies awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions, as well as an Overall Best prize. The presence of these awards added an exciting edge to the celebration, encouraging students to put their best foot forward in every category.

Leadership of The GEM International School was present throughout the day, demonstrating their commitment to every aspect of student life — academic and cultural alike.

Cultural Day at The GEM is more than a celebration. It is a statement — that excellence is not limited to the classroom, and that knowing where you come from is the foundation for knowing where you are going.
